How the generator picks colors
Colors are placed in OKLCH, a color space where equal steps look equal. The generator picks a base hue, or takes it from a color you locked, places the other hues by the harmony you chose, spreads lightness from dark to light and keeps saturation moderate so the colors sit together. Each color is then matched to the nearest of 61,617 paint colors by ΔE2000, the same distance the paint pages use.
Questions
How do I keep a color I like?
Press the lock on that color. Generate changes only the unlocked colors, and the new ones are built around the colors you locked.
Can I use my own color?
Yes. Press the pencil on any color and pick or type a color; it is locked so the rest of the palette is built around it.
Where are my palettes saved?
In this browser, under Saved in the top bar. You can rename, edit, copy and export them there. Nothing is uploaded.
How do I share a palette?
The page address always holds the current colors. Copy it from Export, Copy link, and anyone who opens it sees the same palette.
