How CMYK becomes RGB
- Split #D4551E into three pairs: D4, 55 and 1E.
- Read each pair as a base-16 number: D4 is 13 × 16 + 4 = 212.
- 55 becomes 85 and 1E becomes 30, so the color is RGB 212, 85, 30.
CMYK depends on the printer, ink and paper. This is the plain device-independent formula; a print shop's ICC profile gives different numbers.

When you need CMYK to RGB
Print specs and older brand guides often give CMYK only. To use the color on screen you need RGB, calculated from how much light each ink would leave on white paper.
Questions
Why does the RGB look brighter than the printed color?
Screens can show colors ink cannot. The converter gives the screen color that the CMYK values describe, which can be more vivid than the print.
Do I need the printer profile here?
For exact work, yes: the same CMYK prints differently on different presses. The plain formula is fine for screen use.
